We are Cathy Wackford, Kate Travers, Bertha Carrelli, Evan Harris, Hannah Fuller, and Ian Caughlan, licensed clinical social workers. We are happy to offer individual, group, couples and family therapy. We are here to help people of all ages from infancy through adulthood and families in all stages from pre-marital counseling to new parents, to relationships with adult children. Our areas of specialization include:
|
Cathy Wackford, MSW, LCSW-C, (she/her) has two decades of experience working with high risk adolescents. She first worked with adolescents at Taylor Manor Hospital in a long-term inpatient setting. During this time, Cathy gained specialized training in working with adolescents who are resistant, and/or self harming. She then went on to work with child, adolescent and adult trauma survivors at The STTAR Center (The Sexual Trauma Treatment, Advocacy and Recovery Center). For the past decade, Ms. Wackford has built a specialty in working LGBTQIA+ adolescents and adults with an emphasis on working with transgender clients and their families. She also enjoys working with adolescents and adults experiencing mood disorders and/or major life transitions.
Kate Travers (Oliver), MSW, LCSW-C, (she/her) has worked with people from infancy through adulthood with a history of trauma and attachment issues for the past 20 years. She is the co-creator of the Stages of Trauma and Recovery (STAR) Model and co-author of the children's book Sometimes Really Bad Things Happen. Starting primarily as a child therapist, she worked with young children with a history of trauma. Understanding that the bond between parents and infants create a foundational experience, Kate sought training in working with building healthy attachment for children and adults from hard places. She later went on to become the Clinical Director for a residential program for pregnant women involved in the criminal justice system. In this program, she worked with an intervention called Circle of Security to help parents with mental health and substance abuse issues to bond with their babies and promote secure attachments. Kate has also worked as an advocate in the LGBT Community for decades, formerly serving on the Committee for Sexual Minority Issues with the National Association of Social Workers Maryland Chapter, and on the National board for COLAGE, a non-profit that builds communities for people raised in families with LGBTQ parents. She has completed her Level I and II training for EMDR and is a Safe and Sound Protocol Practitioner. Kate provides training for professionals working with trauma and attachment disorders and is a Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) Practitioner and Educator. She loves learning, growing and teaching as well as working with individuals and families to help them meet their best potential. Please contact Kate if you are interested in a training or presentation. Kate has a blog: www.help4yourfamily.com

Hannah Fuller, MSW, LCSW-C (she/her) specializes in working with individuals with a history of childhood trauma and attachment challenges. Prior to joining A Healing Place, Hannah worked in treatment foster care, providing clinical services to children, adolescents and young adults and their foster parents. Her focus while there was to help that child heal from trauma. She also worked with parents, teaching them therapeutic techniques to help disarm their child’s fear and facilitate a bond between parent and child which helps create healthy, secure attachments. Hannah has experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults in a therapeutic respite home setting, teaching them to identify and talk about their feelings, self- regulation skills and adaptive living skills. In addition to her work experience, Hannah was raised with both biological and adopted siblings and brings this unique perspective into her family work as she is able to relate to family members of the adopted child. Hannah is trained in Trust Based Relational Intervention.
